Former Manchester United player Marcus Rashford said he was grateful for his loan move to Aston Villa and added that he just wants to play football.
Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan from United until the end of the season late last night, and Sky Sports reported that the Birmingham club will cover at least 75 percent of his wages. Depending on the team's results, Aston Villa could pay Rashford up to 90 percent of his salary.
"I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan possible. I was lucky to have been approached by several clubs, but moving to Aston Villa was an easy decision, I really admire the way they have played this season and the ambition of the manager," said Rashford.
The clubs did not provide financial details, and British media reported that as part of the loan deal, Aston Villa has an option to buy the contract for £40 million.
"I just want to play football and I'm excited to get started. I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season," added 27-year-old Rashford.
He has not played for United since December 12, after coach Ruben Amorim claimed he was not committed to training.
Rashford was not even selected for the England national team for last year's European Championship, after a season in which he had disciplinary problems at United.
Amorim recently said he would rather put the 63-year-old goalkeeping coach on the bench than Rashford, who has scored seven goals in all competitions this season.
British media reported that Amorim and Rashford are no longer speaking.
Rashford spent his entire career at United, for whom he played 426 games and scored 138 goals.
