Manchester City have registered Rodri for the knockout stages of the Champions League, even though the officially best footballer in the world is still recovering from a serious knee injury.
According to the rules of the European Football Union (Uefa), the deadline for teams to register was midnight on Thursday, and due to the restriction of three new players brought in in the winter transfer window, City had to leave out teenager Vitor Reyes, who recently arrived from Palmeiras, from the list.
Rodri tore a knee ligament in the match against Arsenal on September 22nd and was then predicted to be out for six to seven months.
The first leg of the Champions League play-offs is scheduled for next week, and City's rival in the two-legged tie is the reigning European champion Real Madrid.
The winner of that duel will play in the round of 16 against Atletico Madrid or Bayer Leverkusen.
