From Esteghlal Khuzestan to Esteghlal - Montenegrin expert Miodrag Božović is the new coach of the giants from Tehran, the oldest club in Iran.
As the nine-time champion of Iran announced, Božović has signed a contract until the end of the season, and with him, two more of our coaches are joining the coaching staff - Saša Petrović and Dejan Mrvaljević.
What will be a special challenge for the Montenegrin expert is the round of 16 of the Asian Champions League, where he will soon face a two-match match against the super-rich Al-Nasr, whose colors are defended by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The first match is scheduled for March 3rd in Tehran, with the return match seven days later in Riyadh.
Esteghlal was last crowned Iranian champions in 2022, and over the previous two seasons they have looked down on Persepolis, the only club in the country with more titles (16).
The "blues from the capital" are not shining this season either, and after 20 rounds of the domestic championship they are in seventh place, 18 points behind the leader, Tractor from Tabriz.
Throughout his career, Božović has managed, among other clubs, Buducnost, Dinamo and Lokomotiv Moscow, Red Star, Arsenal Tula, Neftchi Baku...
