For the first time since January 25th, Napoli felt what it's like to win in Serie A.
Despite waiting a month and a half for a triumph, they are still absolutely in the running for the Scudetto, and after defeating Fiorentina (2:1), they are only a point behind leaders Inter.
The current champion hasn't been brilliant lately either, it's been like that all season, so the championship race is completely open and next weekend could be very important - Inter will host Atalanta, while Napoli will travel to Venice...
In their duel with the "Viola", the "Azure" finally played the way a team that wants the title should play - they dominated, took an early lead with a goal from Romelu Lukaku, and then below and confirmed their advantage when the Belgian was Giacomo Raspadori's assistant.
Napoli wondered everything, but the game changed significantly from the 66th minute when Albert Guðmunsson reduced the score to 2:1 with about twenty minutes to go.
Fiorentina then tried, but were not good enough to cause problems for Napoli, who recorded a triumph after four draws and a defeat.
"We deserved the victory and we should have secured it earlier, because we all know that recently we have conceded a goal in the 90th or 92nd minute several times and wasted a triumph," said Antonio Conte.
Napoli came from behind to earn a well-deserved draw in the derby with Inter in the last round...
"I always tell my team that they can improve. I said that now because I know I'm telling the truth. I've managed a lot of championship teams, I've learned a few things, so I have the right to look every player in the eye and tell them what I think," Conte pointed out.
Lukaku scored his first goal since January 25th and the win over Juventus.
"Romelu is improving and this was perhaps his best match in the Napoli shirt. He is a player who needs confidence and we give it to him because when he is dominant then we are at an advantage," said Conte.
And Roma is in the best form in Serie A, having not lost in 12 games in a row. What's more important - the "she-wolf" is winning, having celebrated for the fifth time in a row in Tuscany against Empoli.
Claudio Ranieri's team was better, and achieved triumph with a goal scored by Matijas Soule in just 22 seconds.
