It was an October night in 2011, the first rainy one in Podgorica in a long time, as if it wanted to give the historic match a special touch, the one from island stadiums...
Montenegrin football players played against England, a great football nation, a country that gave the world the most beautiful sporting game.
The "Falcons" needed to somehow achieve a draw, which would take them to a place they had never been before or since, into the play-offs for a major competition.
The clock had already ticked to 90 minutes, Montenegro was losing 2:1, the visiting fans were already singing the winning "God save the Queen", but it was in those moments that they saw the guy who would become the god of Montenegrin football, the king of the most beautiful football night in the history of our country.
Fearless, as he always was, Andrija Delibasic flew past the England defense, headbutted Joe Hart's goal, "hug" the goalpost and became a legend - for the "explosion" under Gorica, for images that will never fade beneath the stands painted with English flags.
At that moment, with great respect for other sports and successes, Andrija did something that no one has ever done since the restoration of independence - Montenegro became one, embraced, whether it was the people in the stadium or those who watched the historic match across the country.
Andrija could have known even then that he had secured a place for himself among the immortals, that he would continue to live even after today's sad March 19th, when he left us too soon.
Great Andrew and one of the smallest countries in Europe won a huge point against a country where football is a way of life, making them the headlines of English and many other world media outlets that evening.
"Delibasic equalized at 2:2, making Montenegro's goal look easy, although it was clearly not," wrote the British Telegraph at the time, adding:
"It was an absolutely historic draw for the hosts, for the giants from Montenegro."
Glenn Hoddle, a Tottenham and England legend, described the scenes at Gorica to the United Kingdom media as incredible.
"It would be an understatement to say that Delibasic has taken the shine off England's qualifiers, even though 'proud Albion' will go to the Euros. While the home fans took to the pitch to celebrate with their heroes, the English players left disappointed to have conceded an equaliser in the 90th minute," the Daily Mail reported.
"Montenegro deserved to be in the play-offs for the European Championship thanks to Delibasic's goal," added the Guardian.
The unforgettable night was perhaps best described by the Independent.
"What a night. It was only in injury time that Montenegro equalised through Andrija Delibasic, meaning they would finish second in the group and qualify for the play-offs. The ground exploded, and after the final whistle the fans rushed onto the pitch. This small nation deserved this result."
