Montenegrin football players have learned the name of their last, toughest rival in the World Cup qualifying group.
The play-offs of the Nations League at the Stade de France in Paris lasted until almost midnight, and the opponent for Robert Prosinecki's team will be "his" Croatia, which lost to France on penalties.
After the 2:0 defeat in Split, not much foretold such an epilogue for the "fiery" team, but Didier Deschamps responded to the criticism for the umpteenth time - with a victory that shows the strength of the "tricolor".
A victory that could have been more convincing than 2:0 (goals Michael Oliseh i Ousmane Dembele in the second half) and after 90 or 120, but they made up for it in the penalty shootout which was very dramatic.
Dayo Upamecano brought victory to the giants...
Montenegro will host Croatia in the 6th round on September 8th, and will host them in the final on November 17th.
France will play Spain in the semi-finals of the Nations League.
The home team dominated the entire 120 minutes in the City of Light, and took the lead midway through the second half with a masterful free kick from Oliseh.
The Bayern player later assisted Dembele for 2:0, France created several more chances to settle the score before the penalty shootout, but Dominik Livaković stopped shots from Desiree Due and Kylian Mbappe.
And in the penalty shootout, Teo Hernandez had a match point in the fourth series and missed the entire goal, then Duje Ćaleta-Car gave the Croatians the advantage, but Borna Stanišić ruined everything, whose shot was saved by Majk Menjan.
It all ultimately depended on Upamecano who routinely scored for a big celebration.
