And statisticians from the "Football Meets Data" platform, which specializes in applied football statistics, analyzed the situation in the European qualifying groups for the World Cup.
According to their projections, Montenegro's chances of winning first place in Group L are three percent. The chances that Robert Prosinecki's team will eventually take second place are 16 percent, and third place is 67 percent.
Our team's rivals in Group L are, in addition to the Faroe Islands and Gibraltar, Croatia and the Czech Republic.
The winners of 12 groups will qualify directly for the World Cup. The remaining four visas will be shared through a play-off, which will involve the 12 second-placed teams and the four best teams from the previous edition of the Nations League, which did not take first or second place in their group in the World Cup qualifiers.
The hosts of next year's World Cup are the USA, Canada and Mexico.
