March was ideal for Robert Prosinečki this time too - after making his debut on the bench of Montenegro last year with two victories, he now led the "falcons" to six points at the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with two much more important triumphs.
After Gibraltar, our national team also defeated the Faroe Islands - in a dramatic 96th minute goal by Edvin Kuč.
"I think we deserved the victory - we wanted it the whole time, we attacked, the guys gave it their all, in the end we got lucky and were rewarded, but that was because we kept the pressure on the whole time," coach Robert Prosinecki told Radio Television of Montenegro.
The Farani team showed that they are far from the amateurs they once were, they were brilliantly organized and disciplined in defense.
"It was a tough game, they are a team that plays in two blocks, we also watched against the Czech Republic where they conceded a goal in the last minutes and lost," added Prosinecki.
Two matches, six points - that's the most important thing at the start of the qualifiers.
"We have to be happy with six points, and in June we will think about the further course of the qualifications."
And those six points against the easiest rivals in the group were somehow pre-written...
"It's easy to write them off in advance, you have to play the game... The Faroe Islands have made incredible progress, they play block, everyone is behind the ball and it was difficult to break through them, but in the end the most important thing is the victory and six points," the legendary Croat pointed out.
Kuč was a hero.
"He came on again in the second half brilliantly, just like against Gibraltar. He's a guy with quality and brought us three points," Prosinecki pointed out.
The coach finally had a message from our youth team, which qualified for the European Championship earlier today.
"I want to congratulate the youngsters, they were outstanding, we watched them together - it was a great game. It's a great thing that we reached the final of the European Championship, the youngsters are coming and we hope that they will soon be in the A national team. They are our future," concluded Prosinecki.
