After Buducnost, Iskra provided the most youth national team players for Montenegro, who achieved historic success in Tbilisi, becoming our first team to qualify for a major competition.
Goalkeeper Tomaš Đurović, then Filip Perović, Aleksa Karadžić and Danilo Ćetković, who is a member of Sutjeska and a loaned player from Iskra - are members of the Danilovgrad team who were on the list of coach Nenad Vukčević.
On this occasion, on Friday, a reception was held in the small hall of the Danilovgrad Municipal Assembly for the U19 football players of the Montenegrin national team, as well as representatives of the management of FK Iskra, the club where the young athletes originated.
The guests were welcomed by the President and Vice President of the Municipality of Danilovgrad, Aleksandar Grgurović and Bojan Pavicevic. The reception was also attended by Duško Stjepović, a member of the state parliament and former president of the Assembly of FK Iskra.
They reportedly congratulated the young footballers on their historic result, but also expressed their gratitude for promoting sports in Danilovgrad and Danilovgrad itself at the highest level. On behalf of the Municipality of Danilovgrad, the players received special gifts, which symbolically showed that the local community appreciates the great success of their children.
The European Youth Championship will be held from June 13th to 26th in Romania.
"In a conversation with the Iskra management, it was concluded that, after a difficult period, the club is facing better days and a march towards greater goals. A member of the FK Iskra board of directors, Rajko Burić, presented the President of the Municipality of Danilovgrad with a plaque as a sign of gratitude for the effort that the local government has invested and continues to invest in the smooth functioning of the club, achieving more notable results and developing players who will repeat the great success of this great generation in the future," the Danilovgrad Municipality said in a statement.
