Real Madrid footballer Jude Bellingham said today that the upcoming Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal will be "a night made for Real Madrid" and added that he is highly motivated for the match.
"I've heard it a million times since last Sunday, seen a million videos, very motivating things. It's a night made for Real Madrid. A night that will go down in history, but also something that is close to people in this part of the world. I hope we can create another special night," Bellingham said at a press conference, as reported by the BBC.
Real Madrid will welcome Arsenal on Wednesday at 21pm, in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
The Spanish club lost 3-0 in the first leg of the doubleheader in London.
Real Madrid have lost by three or more goals in the first leg of a European knockout stage match five times.
The only time they managed to overturn that deficit in the second leg was in the 1975/76 European Cup. The Madrid club lost 4-1 to Derby County in the first leg of the round of 5, only to advance to the quarter-finals with a 1-XNUMX victory in the second leg.
Real Madrid has still not managed to make such a turnaround in the Champions League era.
"There's not much you can do for Real Madrid that hasn't already been done. Tomorrow is our chance to do something for the first time, which is very important for us," Bellingham said.
The scorer of two goals in the first leg of the double between Real Madrid and Arsenal was Bellingham's England teammate Declan Rice, who scored both goals from free kicks.
"The free kicks were surprising. I knew Declan was good at taking set pieces, corners and that, but I've never seen him do it. Kudos to him," said Bellingham.
The winner of the tie between Real Madrid and Arsenal will play the winner of the tie between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa in the Champions League semi-finals. The French club won the first leg of the tie 3-1 in Paris.
