Buducnost players defeated Arsenal (5:0) last night in the 30th round of the MeridianBet First Montenegrin Football League and came one step away from the title.
With six rounds remaining, Ivan Brnović's team has 17 points more than Petrovac and in the next round, against Bokelj SBBet in Kotor, they need a point for a record seventh title.
Buducnost was better from the first minute last night, with goals scored by Lazar Mijović, Ivan Bulatović, Nedeljko Piščević, Andrej Kostić and Ilija Serikov.
"The match was tough in the first half, during the first 25 minutes there was nothing particularly effective – there were a lot of interruptions, fouls, we couldn't handle it... Simply put, we're used to playing at our own intensity," said Buducnost coach Ivan Brnović for the club's website after the match.
Buducnost scored the first goal on time, and then went on to achieve a convincing triumph.
"The accuracy of the passes didn't serve us, but we scored a goal before half-time, and generally when we score a goal – we play much easier. The opponent tried to do something, Arsenal came out a little higher in the second half, and we usually punish such situations. Perhaps this game is the best picture of everything we have done throughout the championship – a dominance in all segments of the game against an, in the first half, extremely strong rival."
The future of the upcoming weekend can celebrate the title.
"We are close to the title, but we are Buducnost and regardless of the calculations, we enter every game to win and it will be that way until the end of the championship," said Brnović.
