Manchester City players defeated Aston Villa 2-1 at home tonight, in the 34th round of the Premier League, and climbed to third place in the table.
City took the lead in the eighth minute with a goal from Bernardo Silva, and Marcus Rashford equalized in the 18th minute from a penalty kick.
The winning goal was scored by Mateus Nunes in the fourth minute of stoppage time, after a good run down the left flank and a cross from Jeremy Doku. It was Nunes' first goal for City in the Premier League.
City player Omar Marmus scored in the 79th minute, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
Manchester City, after their third consecutive victory, their 18th in the league, climbed to third place in the table with 61 points, a point and a game in hand over fourth-placed Nottingham Forest. Fifth-placed Newcastle have 59 points and a game in hand over City.
Chelsea are sixth with 57 points, the same number as Aston Villa in seventh place, but with a game in hand over the London team. The top five teams from the Premier League will play in the Champions League next season.
