A protest has been announced in Tuzi for April 27th due to the change in the coat of arms of the Dečić football club.
"On behalf of a group of enthusiasts, former football players and sports workers, Dečić fans, we invite you to come to a protest rally on April 27th against the change of the emblem of our football club. We invite all Dečić fans, all those who have the "blue and white" color in their hearts, to peacefully and dignifiedly point out to the current management that they made a mistake," reads the statement from the organizers, signed by Zejnel Muminović. Dečić, the current champion of Montenegro, is celebrating a great anniversary next year - a century of existence.
"We believe that it is not appropriate for the Decic logo to be changed, especially not because of the people who wrote the history of Decic on fields throughout the former Yugoslavia. The support, not only from former Decic players, but also from numerous athletes and Montenegrin national team members, medal winners from the world's largest competitions, speaks for itself that our initiative is justified. Support also came from one of the legends of Montenegrin football, a man who was born in Tuzi and who took his first football steps in Decic - Refik Šabanadžović."
The statement also states that a petition not to change the club's trademark has been signed by more than a thousand people on social media.
"We invite you to express your dissatisfaction with the change of the Dečić coat of arms on Sunday at 12 noon in the center of Tuzi. Come and defend the tradition of our club. Together for the coat of arms and the blue and white colors," the statement concludes.
