Polish state television (TVP) claimed in the summer of 2023, just days after the second leg of the Conference League qualifier between Arsenal and Alakškert, that there were serious indications that the match was fixed.
About twenty months later, several players and members of the Tivat club's management were questioned at the headquarters of the European football body in Nyon over that match, which ended with the Armenian club winning 6:1.
As Dejan Kandić, president of Arsenal, told the Radio Television of Montenegro portal, the process was initiated after his criminal complaint, which he filed together with the president of the Municipality of Tivat.
He added that only the players are under investigation, not members of the management.
UEFA has yet to make a decision because the process is still ongoing, but the Football Association of Montenegro and the club from our coast have been informed about everything.
If the investigation confirms the information originating from Poland, Arsenal would likely face a penalty, perhaps even expulsion from Europe...
Polish public service journalist Mateusz Miga claimed in July 2023 that during the first half of the disputed match - even though the score was 35:0 until the 0th minute - bookmakers received more than 250.000 euros on the "2+ goals" game during the first 45 minutes. The first goal at the "DG Arena" then fell in the 40th minute, and the second in the referee's stoppage time of the first half.
Bookmakers tried to protect themselves from high payouts during the final 10 minutes of the first half, but some failed to do so in time. The odds at that moment at certain bookmakers for the live game "2+ goals" were as high as 30.
Everything continued in the second half when, according to TVP, suspicious payments for 5+ and 7+ goals began.
"The match ultimately ended with a score of 1:6, and 'in an even more suspicious manner', as the visitors scored two goals in stoppage time of the second half," TVP announced at the time.
