Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique said that his team showed their true mentality in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal and that a good game at the start of the match was crucial for his team's victory in that duel.
Paris Saint-Germain defeated Arsenal 1-0 on Tuesday in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
"We think about how difficult the match was, because the atmosphere in the stadium was incredible. I think we showed our right mentality, we started well and that boosted our confidence," Enrique said, as reported by the club's website.
The second leg is scheduled for May 7th in Paris, and the winner of this two-legged tie will play against the winner of the Barcelona-Inter duel in the Champions League final.
"This is a great moment for us, but we have to recover and think about the next game. The second leg will be difficult and close. We are very happy and I think our fans can rejoice because of our mentality and ambition to fight in every game," Enrique added.
The Paris Saint-Germain coach stated that his team's performance could be even better.
"We are happy, but we can improve. Everyone knows that," said Enrique.
Enrique praised the Paris Saint-Germain fans and said that their support means a lot to his team.
"There are a lot of emotions, but I think we should enjoy the support of our fans, because they are incredible every time. There were 2.500 of them now and everyone felt their support for the team. We know it will be difficult, that there will be moments of suffering, but with the support of our fans and the character we have shown, we will show what kind of team we really are," he said.
