The "Friendship Tournament" has begun in Žabljak, with six football teams participating, from Čajniče, Kragujevac, Herceg Novi, Plužine, Pljevlja and the host, Žabljak.
The tournament was officially opened by the president of the Žabljak Municipal Assembly, Ivan Popović.
"This is a wonderful sporting event. Such tournaments have exceptional significance, especially for our youth. Sport teaches them discipline, teamwork, perseverance and fair play. Values that are necessary for healthy and successful development. Through sport, young people build friendships, learn to respect their opponents and develop a healthy competitive spirit," said Popović.
The local government of Žabljak recognizes the vital role of sport in society and actively implements policies that support its development at all levels.
"This includes investing in sports infrastructure, supporting sports clubs and sports schools, as well as organizing events that promote socializing and a healthy lifestyle. Our goal is to make sports accessible to children and young people, regardless of their financial capabilities. We believe that a strong sports community contributes not only to the physical and mental health of individuals, but also to strengthening social cohesion and promoting positive values. We will continue to work on creating an environment in which sports will take their deserved place and be recognized as an important pillar of the development of our municipality," Popović emphasized and wished:
"I wish all teams good luck and success on the field, and all visitors a pleasant viewing of the matches. May this tournament be conducted in fair play and the joy of sport!"
