Barcelona coach Hansi Flick expressed regret over "certain refereeing decisions" after his team was eliminated by Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-finals.
Barcelona was defeated on Tuesday on the away field after extra time by Inter 4:3. The first match in Barcelona was a draw - 3:3.
"I'm disappointed, but we can be proud of our performance. I'm proud of my team, they gave their all, but football can sometimes be unfair," Flick said at a press conference after the match.
Flick also said that "certain refereeing decisions went against his team" and that "all the decisions that were 50-50 ended in Inter's favor."
Barcelona, like in the first match, was losing 2-0 in this match, but managed to equalize at 2-2 and take a 88-3 lead in the 2th minute. However, Inter equalized in the third minute of injury time and forced extra time, where the decisive goal was scored by Italy international Davide Fratezi in the 99th minute.
"The team did their best to win, that's all I can say. We have to accept it and move on. Inter is a great team, they defend great, they have great strikers, they keep the ball well and they are well-coordinated. We are learning from this and we will be back next season. It is normal that we are disappointed now, but we are already back in training on Thursday," said Flik.
Barcelona, currently leading the Spanish league, welcomes Real Madrid in "El Clasico" on Sunday.
