The situation at the Football Club Budućnost has been in the public eye for just a few days since the new Supervisory Board was elected, led by the new club president, Boško Kovačević.
And just a day before the appointment of the club's management, Budućnost executive director Novak Novaković introduced the new sports director, former Montenegrin national team player, Dejan Damjanović, to the media.
Novaković, as Boško Kovačević told "Vijesti", acted beyond his authority, without waiting for the definitive formation of the Supervisory Board, a body that must verify every decision.
"Regardless of the fact that he is a former national team player and a big name, the way in which the appointment was made is not in accordance with the club's rules. What we will clearly advocate for is transparency when making every decision. It is not within the competence of the executive director to appoint a sports director, Novak Novaković knew that well, just like Dejan Damjanović," says Boško Kovačević.
These are things that will be addressed in the coming days by the club's new management, whose absolute priority, claims Kovačević, is obtaining a license to compete in European competitions.
"Not getting a license in the first round is something we faced right away and that is now our absolute priority and everything else, at least for now, is secondary."
Millions in transfers in the previous period, and a tax debt that is "hanging" the license.
"It should be emphasized that the coffers are empty, and as a management we are doing everything we can to provide the funds to keep everything functioning," the new club president emphasized.
Kovačević says he learned about the information that the Special State Prosecutor's Office is investigating the operations of FK Budućnost in the past period - specifically, where the money from the transfers of Viktor Đukanović and Vasilije Adžić went, why the coffers are empty - from the media.
"Full support to the Prosecutor's Office in carrying out the work for which it is responsible," he concluded.
