Just a few days after being elected as the new president of Budućnost, Boško Kovačević found himself in a "mess".
The Podgorica team was rejected in the first round of the licensing process for European competitions due to a tax debt of 171 thousand euros, the Special State Prosecutor's Office is investigating where the money from millions in transfers went, and executive director Novak Novaković, as determined - outside his jurisdiction, appointed sports director Dejan Damjanović.
These are all things that the newly elected club management, led by Kovačević, must face.
"On the one hand, we found a club with historic results, seen from a sporting perspective - a new champion who won the title by a huge margin, broke numerous records, and all this by pushing players from their own youth, which is the treasure of this club, something we have advocated for so far, and what we will advocate for in the future," said Kovačević.
On the other hand - administrative chaos.
"Not obtaining a European license would be a serious blow and a hindrance, and that is why it is our absolute priority to resolve this in the appeal process and gain the right to participate in European competitions."
Kovačević claims he wants an open, transparent club...
"Which is open to cooperation with all segments, all football factors - with fans, with the Football Association, with all citizens, without any divisions. Buducnost is the football brand of Montenegro and we want it to regain its image. One of the priorities will be the return of people to the stadium, through the affirmation of famous personalities and club legends. Buducnost deserves it," Kovačević emphasized.
