London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and... Bristol?
Despite being the eighth largest city in England, Bristol has never been a Premier League participant, but that could soon change.
Having secured a place in the play-offs for promotion to the Premier League, Bristol City face a two-legged semi-final against Sheffield United, followed by a possible final at Wembley against either Coventry or Sunderland. That's all that stands between them and promotion to the top flight.
Although they reached the play-offs from the bottom sixth position, "The Robins" believe they can achieve another feat.
Bristol City were relegated from the First Division, the then highest tier of competition before the establishment of the Premier League, in the 1979/80 season, and have been trying to return to the top for 45 seasons.
The closest they came to the Premier League was in the 2007/08 season, but Hull City were too strong in the Championship play-off final.
After ten consecutive seasons in the second tier, are Bristol City ready to end their long absence from the top flight?
Their city rivals, Bristol Rovers, have been playing in the third tier and sometimes even lower leagues since they were relegated from the First Division in the 1992/93 season.
With an estimated population of around 480.000, Bristol is by far the largest English city to never have had a team in the Premier League.
Among the cities that still do not have a Premier League player is Doncaster.
Doncaster had many reasons to celebrate in 2022 when it was named one of eight new towns to mark the Queen's "Platinum Jubilee".
However, its approximately 314.252 inhabitants have not had much reason to celebrate when it comes to football in recent years.
Doncaster Rovers were relegated to League 2 in the 2021/22 season, and were defeated in the play-off semi-finals last season.
However, perhaps better days are coming, a return to Ligue 1 is already assured although the dream of appearing in the Premier League still seems far away.
MK Dons also belongs to this infamous group.
A city with an estimated population of almost 300.000, Milton Keynes is one of the fastest growing cities in the country.
However, there is still a lot of work to do when it comes to progressing and getting closer to the Premier League, considering MK Dons were only founded in 2004 after Wimbledon moved from London to the north.
Although they are technically the successor to Wimbledon, which played in the Premier League, this club is considered new after a controversial relocation.
Since moving to the city, the club has played in every league except the Premier League, and currently find themselves near the bottom of the table as the League Two season draws to a close.
Several other cities belong to this group, including Salford, Plymouth, Preston, York, and Peterborough.
