A Hamburger SV fan suffered "life-threatening injuries" during celebrations to celebrate the team's return to the Bundesliga, while another 19 fans of the German club were seriously injured.
Hamburg's fire department launched what it called a "major emergency response" to deal with thousands of Hamburger fans who stormed the pitch on Saturday to celebrate their club's return to the Bundesliga after a victory over Ulm.
Medical assistance was required for 44 supporters of the German club, 25 of whom were taken to local hospitals, only five of whom suffered minor injuries.
Hamburger, who have been German champions six times, will be playing in the Bundesliga for the first time since the 2017/18 season.
