Not everything was resolved on the second league scene two rounds before the end, although for a long time it seemed that it was.
Igalo returned to the play-offs with a great series under the command of new coach Slaviša Jelić - with two rounds remaining, they are three points behind third-placed Lovćen, with a better head-to-head record.
Igalo has never played in the top flight, and their greatest success came in 2018, when they reached the Cup final (defeated by OFK Titograd). However, Jelić believes that new pages in the club's history could be written at the end of the season.
Under the command of the new coach, the club from the Solila stadium achieved four wins, one draw and only one loss, against the new first league team Mladost DG in six games.
- First impressions of the new environment are extremely positive. The reception at the club was at a high level, just as all the structures are functioning brilliantly, from the players and the coaching staff, to the management and president Nedeljko Marković. I love it here, I feel great, I like the city, and especially the way the club works - emphasizes Jelić.
The new coach has changed the way Igalo plays - 15 goals scored in six matches speak for themselves. Jelic's coaching signature is clear: offensive football with high pressing, a direct approach and a game "for the goal more".
- While I was playing, I was a striker, so that has been transferred to my coaching work. The style I enforce is yielding results, and I would especially like to highlight Rolović, who has fit into our system perfectly. We have double-digit shots on goal in almost every game - says Igala's strategist.
Igalo will be away to Rudar until the end of the season and will welcome Kom. If they win all six points for third place, they need one defeat from Lovćen, while Cetinje will be away to Ibar and play Iskra in Podgorica.
- Of course we hope so. We are focused to the max, but we will also need a dose of luck. Lovćen, whom we recently beat, is expecting a tough match against Ibra, a team fighting for survival. We are playing against Rudar, for whom this match has no result significance, which can be in our favor - explains Jelić.
Even if Igalo doesn't grab third place, a good foundation has been laid for the next season under Jelić. Still...
- I would like to stay, I really like it here, but for now I don't know anything. We'll see how the situation develops after the championship ends - concludes Jelić.
