Buducnost convincingly won the title and showed that they are the absolute best team in the domestic arena this season, and apart from the team from Podgorica and the team that wins the Cup (Dečić AdmiralBet or Mornar), the players from Petrovac can boast a very good campaign.
There was no championship race, but neither was there a fight for second place in the MeridianBet First League - it was made meaningless by the team from Petrovac, who won 35 points in 60 rounds. Ten more than Sutjeska, 13 more than last year's champion Dečić...
And one of those who "kept" the high level of the team he leads Zdravko Dragićević je Marko Šimun, a midfielder who turns 24 in less than a month. Šimun arrived at the “Mitar-Mićo Goliš” stadium from Jezera this summer and quickly became one of the most important, if not the most important, links.
- I think that all of us in Petrovac can be satisfied with the season. If someone had offered us second place ten months ago at the start of the season, of course we would have accepted it with enthusiasm. We may have outdone ourselves, but we can definitely say that we played very good football that brought results - Šimun told "Vijesti".
Petrovac had no chance in the championship, but it certainly had a chance in the Cup.
- It was not realistic to threaten Buducnost, which is by far the best team in the league. The team from Podgorica was surprisingly eliminated in the Cup. And we regret that we did not go all the way there, I believe we could have. In that semi-final match against Dečić, everything could have been different, we had an advantage in the second leg, we created chances... We played a very good game, but we failed - says Šimun, who was the scorer in the second leg in the draw in Tuzi (2:2).
Petrovac ends the season this weekend, and it will almost certainly be Šimun's last game in the blue jersey.
- There was a chance that if we entered the European scene, I would stay and play those games, but since it is increasingly certain that Petrovac will not receive a license for the international scene, nothing will come of it - says Šimun and adds:
- I think it's time for me to take a step forward in my career and leave Montenegrin football. I believe I've proven myself here and that I should play in a stronger league. We'll see what happens - said Šimun.
At the moment, Čukaricki and Sarajevo are interested in Šimun, and it is also mentioned that he is a target of Partizan, for whom he played in the youth teams.
- Everyone knows my desire to one day wear the black and white jersey again. I was at Partizan, I hope the time will come for me to return to Humska, but it's too early to talk about it. In the coming period, I will decide what is best for my future - Šimun is clear.
And there is one more game left before the final farewell with Petrovac - on Saturday against Mornar, who needs points to survive.
- Regardless of what Mornar needs, we are only interested in winning. It would be good to end the season the way we have been playing for the most part and we will do everything to end it with three points - concluded Šimun, who has scored four goals in the championship and two in the Cup this season.
