Despite winning the title, Barcelona will earn just two percent more than arch-rivals Real Madrid in the distribution of La Liga prize money, Spanish media report.
Primera will distribute 1,3 billion euros in television rights revenue, with half of the funds divided equally between all 20 first division clubs, while 25 percent is distributed based on the club's popularity and commercial influence, according to "Tribuna".
The remaining 25 percent depends on league position, and thanks to that formula, Barça and Real continue to dominate in earnings, with a slight financial advantage going to the champion.
The Catalans will receive 17 percent of the television rights - 57,84 million, and Real 15 percent (51,03 million).
Last season, for example, Manchester City in the Premier League received almost 209 million euros, while second-placed Arsenal received about half a million euros less, mainly thanks to having the most games on television.
