FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced that Cristiano Ronaldo could play in the Club World Cup.
FIFA has introduced a new transfer window for the competition, giving the Portuguese a chance after his Al Nasr side failed to qualify for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from June 14 to July 13 in the United States.
Does Infantino know something that the public hasn't heard yet?
"Cristiano Ronaldo could play in the Club World Cup. There are talks with some clubs, who knows what will happen. There are still a few weeks, it will be fun," Infantino said.
FIFA introduced a special rule and allowed clubs participating in the tournament in the USA to bring in new players during two windows - from June 1 to 10 and from June 27 to July 3.
There is speculation that CR7 could sign a short-term contract with a club or go on loan, and Saudi Al Hilal, Brazilian Palmeiras and Moroccan Wydad are reportedly in the running.
