Stevan Jovetić in the Czech Republic, almost 14 years later. The Montenegro captain was part of the team during an unforgettable 2011 play-off against the country's national football team, and now he leads the "falcons" who have arrived in great spirits once again.
Our national team plays against the Czech Republic tomorrow evening (Friday, 20.45:3 PM) in the 2026rd round of qualifying for the XNUMX World Cup, which they enter with the maximum six points from the first two matches.
Is it time for another victory or would a point from a tough away game be enough?
"A draw would be a great result, but of course we won't go for a point, but rather try to play as we agreed, to win. But I say a draw would also be acceptable," Jovetić was clear at the press conference.
The duel with the Czechs comes at the end of the season, but in some ways at an ideal time for the "falcons".
"For the first time, we had seven days to prepare, usually just a few training sessions. We've never had more time to prepare properly. We used it well, studied the Czechs, and the atmosphere is much better because Stevan Savić is here. The atmosphere is positive and I believe we will play hard, fighting for the entire 90 minutes. We will definitely have a chance," the captain emphasized.
The previous five matches with the Czech Republic that Montenegro lost somehow always drag on before this duel.
"Honestly, I don't pay attention to it. Often in those duels we weren't even complete. We have to be compact, play good defense, and we have enough quality to create chances," says "Jo-Jo".
Part of the national team this time are Montenegrin talents Andrija Bulatović and Vasilije Adžić - how does the captain view them?
"The impressions are great, I met them earlier while training with the Buducnost team. I'm very happy that young players are coming, that's what we need and they will help us in the future. I feel like they've been here longer, even though it's their first time with us. We've welcomed them well, the atmosphere is great, I believe they will be of great help to us," Jovetić rightly praised his younger colleagues.
It is expected that Montenegro will have good support from the stands of the "Dusan Arena".
"I would like to thank the fans. I am very glad that people continue to travel to support their country. That is an additional motivation for us. I hope we will make them happy," concluded Jovetić.
