From the special reporter "Vijesti"
The stadium, which is nestled in the embrace of the Radbuza and Mža rivers, is the ideal place to erase all previous defeats against the Czech Republic, and for the home of the club named Viktorija to symbolically mark the beginning of the victories of Montenegrin football players against a team that has been unbeatable in the past five matches.
A victory would break an ugly tradition, but more importantly - it would herald a bright future for the Montenegrin national football team, the aforementioned rivers in Plzeň would show the way for the "falcons" to the American continent, to the 2026 World Cup...
It's time for the biggest test so far in the World Cup qualifiers - Montenegro plays against the Czech Republic at 20.45:XNUMX PM at the "Dusan Arena".
A point from a tough away game wouldn't be bad, but...
- A draw would be a great result, but of course we won't go for a point, but rather try to play as we agreed, to win. But I say a draw would also be acceptable - is the captain's message Stevan Jovetić, who returned to the Czech Republic after an unforgettable 2011 and play-off matches with this team.
Five matches against the Czech Republic, five losses and only one goal scored - Montenegro has not shown much in its history in duels with the "lions".
- We know that there is a negative tradition in previous matches, but it is time for that to change too - the coach is clear Robert Prosinecki:
- We want to play a men's game, and we have shown that we can compete with big teams. I am optimistic, I believe in the players too, I expect everything to be good.
This time without the starting 11
Before the match in Plzen, the Montenegrin coach broke with the tradition of announcing the starting 11 for the match, and perhaps that also shows how important this match with the "falcon" is.
- I have no problem announcing the lineup, but we want to try to surprise our rivals this time. I am pleased that, apart from Adam Marušić "Everyone is healthy. They are full of energy and I believe we can achieve a good result," Prosinečki emphasized.
The legendary footballer led Montenegro through the Nations League, and during the first two rounds of the qualifiers he celebrated victories against Gibraltar and the Faroe Islands - the duel with the Czech Republic seems to be the most important so far.
- We have six points and this game is certainly very important. Whatever happens, it won't be over, but it is certainly very important. The boys are aware of that and will give their maximum - says Prosinecki.
The Czechs are waiting, but we are waiting too; Savić is ready
The Czech Republic has been waiting to go to the World Cup since 2006, when it appeared in the World Championships for the only time.
- We have been waiting since the beginning, we want the same. We believe we can, maybe this is the last chance of the generation to do something great. There is certainly pressure, and maybe more for them because they are playing at home and believe they have to win. I believe it will be a good match, if we give it our all, and I believe we will - the coach underlined and announced that Stefan Savic ready for the match, the first since March last year in a "Falcon" jersey:
- That makes us happy, we are safer with him and it means a lot to us.
We have enough quality...
Captain Jovetić believes that Montenegro will have something to show at the Viktoria Stadium.
- We have to be compact, play good defense, and we have enough quality to create chances. We had enough time to prepare, we studied the Czechs, and the atmosphere is much better because Savić is here. The atmosphere is positive and I believe we will play hard, fighting for the entire 90 minutes. We will definitely have chances - Jovetić has no doubt.
Montenegro vs. Czech Republic, for the sixth time - may the Victoria Stadium remember the "falcons" as winners this time.
The captain is happy with the youth, happy for the fans
Part of the national team this time are Montenegrin talents Andrija Bulatović and Vasilije Adžić - how does the captain view them?
- The impressions are great, I met them earlier while training with the Buducnost team. I'm very happy that young players are coming, that's what we need and they will help us in the future. I feel like they've been here for a long time, even though it's their first time with us. We've welcomed them well, the atmosphere is great, I believe they will be of great help to us - stressed Jovetić.
A lot of Montenegrin fans are arriving in Plzeň these days...
- I want to thank them - I am very glad that people continue to travel to support their country. That is an additional motivation for us. I hope we will make them happy - stressed Jovetić.
Possible Czech Republic lineup: Kovarž - Coufal, Zima, Krejči, Zeleni - Kral, Souček, Černi, Šulc - Hori, Šik.
Possible lineup for Montenegro: Nikić - Šipčić, Savić, Vujačić - Vešović, Radunović, Bulatović, Kuč, Janković - Jovetić, Krstović.
Souček: Let's take points from Montenegro first
Montenegro and the Czech Republic enter the new duel after winning six points each against the same rivals at the start of the qualifiers.
- It's up to us to be the first to take points from Montenegro - said Tomaš Souček, captain of the Czech Republic.
In addition to the duel with Montenegro in the June qualifiers, the Czechs also face Croatia in Osijek.
- We are facing teams that we will probably be fighting for the positions that lead us further, so this cycle is definitely very important. I don't want to look too far ahead - the match with Montenegro is the first step and the most important one at the moment - added the West Ham midfielder.
