The June World Cup qualifiers were not successful for Montenegrin football players.
The "Falcons" were defeated by the Czech Republic 2:0 in a match in which they were objectively not a worthy opponent, especially in the last half hour after Patrik Sik scored the second goal.
Montenegro thus suffered its first setback after two opening victories over Gibraltar and the Faroe Islands, but also continued its negative streak with the Czechs, who had won six times in as many head-to-head matches.
"We wanted to break that streak in the duels with the Czechs. We didn't succeed, our rival entered the match better, although it wasn't a domination. We conceded a goal and equalized through Milan Vukotić, but we were unlucky because the goal was disallowed for offside," said midfielder Edvin Kuč.
Nothing is lost, says the Azerbaijani Neftchi footballer.
"We have to believe, there are still five games left. We also have a rematch with the Czechs, we want to achieve that historic qualification for a major competition," said Kuč.
In September, there is a match against the Czech Republic at home, followed by an away match against Croatia.
"We need to forget this defeat as soon as possible. I played against Czech players and clubs, they are ready and a very good team. We need to prepare even better for the match with them in September. I think we can beat them, we are certainly better technically," Kuč pointed out.
On Monday, there is a friendly match with Armenia in Nikšić, and coach Robert Prosinecki has announced changes to the squad.
"All players will get a chance, let's see who we can count on. Everyone is playing football today, it won't be easy, but I believe we will win," concluded Kuč.
