Title, championship celebration and only 15 days of rest before the most important part of the year - the Buducnost players did not wait long for a new reunion, the Montenegrin champion began preparations for the European summer.
The "Blue and White" started with only 15 players, but the draw for the 1st round of Champions League qualifying is already in their minds - the Montenegrin champion will be the seed at the start.
"The draw is in the subconscious of all of us. To be honest, we were a little lucky with the license, and then with the development of the situation in Moldova where Milsami won the title. I don't want to sound immodest, but we need that third step of luck," says Ivan Brnović, coach of Buducnost, for the club's website.
And third time lucky should arrive when the balls connect the rivals in the draw.
"Luck has to be earned, and I think we earned it somewhere with our attitude towards work, because we thought seriously and when we secured the title, we respected everyone, so I hope that this attitude will be rewarded so that we have luck in the draw," Brnović added.
To begin with, the champion is not complete, but for good reason.
"We are proud to have 11 national team players in various national teams – from A, through youth to U-19 and U.17 teams," Brnović emphasized.
The preparation plan for the first European challenge is known.
"We will train twice a day next week, then on Saturday we plan to play a friendly match with Adria, and from June 16th we will move to two-week preparations in Slovenia. We will complete the last microcycle before the challenges in Europe in Podgorica," explained Brnović.
The club announced that the "blue and white" will be in Slovenia in Moravske Toplice, where they will play four friendly matches - their opponents are Vardar (June 17th), Rapid Bucharest (June 21st), Mura (June 25th) and Slaven Belupo (June 29th).
There was also one new/old face at roll call.
"Milan Vušurović is a well-known name in our circles, he had a great career abroad, was a member of the national team... We had contact in the winter, but Mornar wouldn't let him go and now our ambitions have coincided. Vušurović is the type of player we need, both because of his physical characteristics and tactical aspects. In addition, I believe he will bring quality," emphasized the coach of Buducnost.
He announced more reinforcements.
"Next up could be Argentine Lionel Strumija, who plays as a defensive midfielder. He should arrive in Podgorica in the next two days, and after passing the mandatory examinations, he will sign a contract. We plan to bring in another defender, and we are also looking for a midfielder," Brnović concluded.
