Trent Alexander-Arnold has signed for Real Madrid, and at the presentation he said that his dream came true when he joined the great.
"Signing for Real Madrid doesn't happen every day. This is a dream come true. I want to be a winner and play alongside the best," said Alexander-Arnold, speaking in Spanish.
When asked how long he had been learning Spanish, the English footballer replied:
"A few months."
Real Madrid paid Liverpool 10 million euros so that Alexander-Arnold could play in the upcoming Club World Cup.
"To be honest, you don't even dream of something like this, as it's beyond the reach and reality of many players. Only a select few English footballers have played for this club. To be a part of it is very exciting. When I was younger, 10-11 years ago, I didn't think I would be here today," Trent pointed out.
He knows what it takes to wear a Real Madrid jersey.
"I'm no stranger to watching Real Madrid win trophies. A big reason I came is to be part of the club's great history and to be part of future successes."
At Real Madrid, he will work with Xabi Alonso, who played for Liverpool.
"I grew up as a Liverpool fan. I watched the current manager do great things in Istanbul, he was part of an incredible (Champions League) final. We spoke. It's good to have that kind of communication. I told him he was my idol growing up and to be able to work with him is a dream come true," said Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool fans did not take his departure to Madrid well.
"I knew for a long time that if I ever left Liverpool, it would be for Real Madrid. That would be the only club for me. You get to the point where you have to make a decision whether to stay or go. It wasn't an easy decision."
