"I came and sat in the second row. There were some businessmen in the first row, I thought I wouldn't crowd... A girl comes up to me and says 'you can't sit here', I tell her I'm invited and tell her my name. She looks at the papers and replies 'and here you are, you're from the fifth row and up. I got up and went home'."
Brano Milačić, invited to the celebration of FK Budućnost tonight...
This was announced on social media tonight by the daughter of the former celebrated coach and sports director of Budućnost, Julija Milačić Petrović-Njegoš, with the remark that she was publishing this without her father's permission and risking him being "very angry".
The Podgorica club celebrated its 20th anniversary tonight with a ceremonial academy and concert at Podgorica's Independence Square.
Milačić was the coach of Buducnost from 2003 to 2006, then briefly in 2007 - no one after him has stayed in charge for so long (three and a half seasons).
He was the coach in one of the Podgorica team's biggest European victories ever, against Deportivo La Coruna (2:1) in 2005, just a season after the Spanish club played in the Champions League semi-finals.
Milačić served as the sports director of Budućnost in the late 80s and early 90s, and today, ahead of the celebration, he took to Facebook to congratulate his beloved club on its great anniversary.
"It is my pleasure to congratulate our club on its 100th birthday. When it is congratulated, I feel as if the congratulations are addressed to all of us who love the club immensely. I want Buducnost to always remain the flagship of Montenegrin football and to experience much better days than before."
