For a boy who was ready to leave the carefree childhood and peace of Kolašin at just 11 years old, the pressure of a big and historic competition could not exist.
For the superstitious, it will be just another Friday the 13th, for Montenegro the most important date in football since the first match after the restoration of independence, and for Vuk Vlahović, the 13th minute in Bucharest that he will remember forever, which made him into history at the age of 18.
The Dinamo Zagreb striker coolly scored at the European Under-19 Championship - it was Montenegro's first goal at the first major competition in which our football team participated.
In the end, the weakened "young falcons" could not hold on, they were defeated by the hosts Romania with a goal in the 91st minute (2:1), but even that does not diminish the historic moment for Montenegrin football and Vlahović.
Vuk's story is quite different from the football path of his peers, as as a boy from Kolašin he first tried his hand at skiing, where he was also extremely talented.
His love for the ball, however, was much stronger - at the age of seven he started training for the local Gorštak team with Oleg Bulatović, and at the age of 10 he moved to Elektron from Podgorica.
Perhaps unknown to many, the team at the time, under the leadership of Nenad Filipović, recorded significant results throughout the region, and Vlahović's talent could not be noticed by the scouts of the best club in the last twenty years in this region - Dinamo Zagreb.
The big call came for the boy who had just turned 11, but with the support of his family, everything was easier - his parents decided to change jobs, go with Vuk to Zagreb and follow his dream.
A difficult and big decision, but it all paid off - Vlahović has been playing for the "Maksimir" giants since 2018, and the media in Croatia does not hide the fact that he is a great hope for the "blues".
"The historic goal for Montenegro was scored by a guy who arrived at Dinamo as one of the most talented young strikers from the region," writes Index.hr.
"The historic day for Montenegrin football was also enhanced by Dinamo's junior - Vuk Vlahović is the blues' great hope," added Telegram.hr.
He was introduced to the Montenegrin youth team at the age of 14 by Goran Perišić, the current coach of the youth national team and the man who gathered and created the golden generation of our football.
He still has one year left on his contract with Dinamo, but it wouldn't be surprising if he leaves Zagreb quickly, as he is already receiving calls from many European clubs.
From skis to downhill skiing into history - Vuk Vlahović's goal will always be remembered in a special way, and could also be the harbinger of new great successes, for him and for Montenegro.
