Experienced West Ham footballer Mike Antonio returned to the field this morning after a break of several months after he suffered a serious car accident at the end of last year that put his career at risk.
The robust Jamaican goal scorer got his chance in the final minutes of this national team's duel against Honduras at the start of the Gold Cup competition, so it's clear to everyone that he didn't accidentally earn the epithet of hero of the day after all the problems he faced.
It all happened on that fateful December 7th, when the football player suffered a serious car accident and injuries to his lower extremities, which required surgery.
How dramatic those late autumn days were is evidenced by the fact that he was transported to the hospital by helicopter, and that people had to pull him out of the crashed car to transport him to the operating room.
Antonio, due to his serious condition, was unable to play for West Ham until the end of the club's season, but he immediately made himself available to the Jamaican coach in June.
His contract with the Hammers expires on the last day of this month, so it remains to be seen whether the club will offer him an extension of the cooperation that will complete a decade this summer.
