Chelsea and Ukraine international Mykhailo Mudryk (24) has been officially charged with violating anti-doping rules, the Football Association (FA) announced.
Mudrik was temporarily suspended in December last year after a routine urine test revealed the presence of a banned substance. At the time, he said he was "in complete shock" and that he "never knowingly used illegal substances."
He has not played a single match for Chelsea since November 28th last year.
In the latest statement released on Wednesday, the FA confirmed the indictment.
"We can confirm that Mihajlo Mudrik has been charged with an anti-doping rule violation, relating to the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in accordance with Rules 3 and 4 of the FA Anti-Doping Regulations," the statement said.
As the proceedings are ongoing, the FA said they cannot make any further comments at this time.
Chelsea Football Club has not yet commented on this case.
