Monterrey held on to a 0-0 draw with River Plate in a tense Group E match at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena at the FIFA Club World Cup, keeping both clubs in contention for a place in the knockout round.
The hero of the draw was the Mexican team's goalkeeper, Esteban Andrade, who saved chances in the second half from Real Madrid's new hope, Frank Mastantuon, and then Miguel Borja. Monterrey also drew with Inter at the start.
River Plate's Kevin Castano was sent off in stoppage time, but his team is level with Inter at the top of the table on four points.
River plays Inter Milan in the final round in Seattle on Wednesday, while Monterrey will play against the defunct Urawa from Japan at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
In Group F, Fluminense and Borussia have four points each, after the Brazilian club celebrated against Ulsan Hyundai in the midnight match - 4:2.
In a twist, although Fluminense took the lead through Arias, the Koreans turned it around by halftime with goals from Hyun and Sang.
In the following minutes, Fluminense increased the pace, with goals scored by Nonato, Frejtes and Keno.
Brazilian clubs are undefeated in the 1st FIFA Club World Cup.
