The city stadium in Podgorica has been given a new look - work on the surface has been completed, so it is certain that the Buducnost football players will play the Champions League qualifiers at their stadium.
Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović said that "to the satisfaction of football fans, conditions for European matches have been created."
"The ground is finished, the works are complete and what is most important for all football fans in Podgorica is that the return match for the Champions League will be played at the City Stadium," said Mujović.
The city's mayor also announced that the stadium's eastern stand could finally be renovated.
"The works cost 500.000 euros, the Capital City participated with 170.000 euros, which means that we saved around 70.000 euros through a single host relationship. We will direct the funds we saved to renovate the auxiliary field of FK Budućnost, the camp at the Old Airport. This is equally important as this field, if we take into account that it is used much more often and that it is important from the aspect of the health of football players. We continue to work, these are big steps, this is an important project, the construction of the eastern stand will begin soon," Mujović emphasized and added:
"The yellow walkways will be repainted white. We will have the colors of our club and the best conditions for FK Buducnost, as well as for the Montenegrin national team."
Goran Mišković, on behalf of the Football Association of Montenegro, called on fans to cheer for Buducnost against Armenian Noa on July 15 in the second leg of the first round of Champions League qualifying.
"This project was implemented by FK Budućnost, Glavni grad and FSCG, and considering that I am employed by FSCG and a former Budućnost player, it was somehow logical for me to be the leader of this project. To my great satisfaction, the project is ending today," said Mišković.
