It was his first wish, but it was immediately clear that it wasn't very realistic - negotiations between Miodrag Božović and Buducnost failed, so the experienced expert will not take over the Montenegrin football management.
During preparations in Slovenia, just two weeks before the first match in the Champions League qualifiers, the Podgorica club terminated its cooperation with Ivan Brnović.
The Count seemed ideal as a savior at a critical moment, but nothing would come of it.
Time is running out until the match with Armenian Noa, and the Board of Directors of Buducnost does not have many options - in recent days, Radoslav Batak, Nenad Lalatović, Viktor Trenevski have been mentioned as potential coaches...
Buducnost president Boško Kovačević announced yesterday that the club is close to reaching an agreement with the coach who has worked in Russia, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Iran... for the past 17 years.
"With Grof, we are becoming a European club. We are close to an agreement. If Grof comes, it will be a great honor and obligation - for the entire club, for everyone who is in any way connected to Buducnost," Kovačević emphasized.
Close or not, nothing has come of the agreement in the end. Now we are waiting for a new reaction from Buducnost - until then, the team is preparing for Europe under the leadership of Srđan Nikić, Mihailo Tomković and Ivan Delić, former assistants in Brnović's coaching staff.
Buducnost will play the first match of the first round of Champions League qualifying on July 1 in Armenia.
