Leicester City Football Club and coach Ruud van Nistelrooy have mutually terminated his contract.
Leicester's statement said that "the coaching staff will continue to implement plans to begin preparations for the upcoming season until a new manager is appointed."
"Rud has overseen a challenging period for the club. Since his appointment in November 2024, he has approached the role with professionalism, integrity and a clear commitment to our objectives, including the integration of several promising players from the club's academy into our first team. Rud moves on, with the respect and gratitude of everyone at the club for his commitment and hard work, and with our best wishes for the future," Leicester said in a statement. Van Nistelrooy was assistant manager to Erik ten Hag at Manchester United before joining Leicester.
After Ten Hag was sacked, Van Nistelrooy became caretaker manager until Ruben Amorim took over, after which he left the club.
"I would like to personally thank the players, coaches, academy and all the staff at Leicester with whom I have worked for their professionalism and dedication during my time at the club, as well as the fans for their support. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the club all the best for the future," said Van Nistelrooy.
The Dutchman managed Leicester in a total of 31 games, winning eight, drawing four and losing 19. Leicester were relegated from the Premier League in the 2024/25 season.
