The life story of North Macedonian football legend Darko Pančev will soon be turned into a feature film.
The film, intended for a wide audience, not only passionate football fans, will feature the most interesting moments from his rich career, as well as personal struggles, successes and failures.
The direction was entrusted to Macedonian director Zoran Petrovski, who lives and works in Bulgaria and has more than 20 years of experience in TV series, international film projects, and commercials.
The screenwriter is Đorđe Milićević, a native of Serbia who, with decades of Hollywood experience, lives and works in New York and Los Angeles.
"The film will in no way be a documentary biography, but a true Hollywood story with many details that the public does not know. Our goal is to reach a wider audience with this story and to present Macedonia in a positive light. We want to inspire young people to understand that with talent and work, there are no unattainable peaks. This is the story of a boy from Skopje, from an average working-class family, who reached the top of European and world football," says the production company "Petrovski Brothers" from Skopje.
The film will be shot in North Macedonia, Serbia and Italy, where Pančev built his career.
The production already has an exclusive contract with Pančevo for the film adaptation of his life story, and negotiations with media partners and sponsors are underway.
"I liked the idea, I accepted it and gave it maximum support. Every sports story is beautiful, and I hope that the film will be realized properly. For my part, I will help with the realization as much as I can. The team is excellent and that is a guarantee that the film will be good," said Darko Pančev.
Pančev is one of the biggest names in football from Yugoslavia and certainly the greatest footballer that North Macedonia has ever had. He is a winner of the European Cup, the Intercontinental Cup and the Golden Boot.
