Atletico Madrid football club announced that Botafogo has accepted its offer for Argentine midfielder Thiago Almada.
"Atletico Madrid and Botafogo have agreed on the transfer of 24-year-old Argentine international Thiago Almada. He will travel to Madrid to undergo the appropriate medical examination and then sign a contract to formalize the agreement," Atletico Madrid said in a statement.
Almada spent the second part of last season on loan at Olympique Lyonnais, while he joined Botafogo in July last year from Atlanta United.
He won the Copa Libertadores with the Brazilian club, where he was selected in the ideal team of the tournament.
In September 2022, he made his debut for the Argentina national team, with which he won gold at the World Cup in Qatar.
