Dečić successfully passed the first round of qualifications for the Conference League, so the second round match against Rapid Vienna will still be played in Tuzi, and not at the "DG Arena", as originally announced.
Although the official UEFA website stated yesterday that Dečić would host the match at the "DG Arena", which caused confusion, the Montenegrin Cup winner will host the Austrian team at his arena. Dečić had previously received verbal guarantees that the stadium at Tuško Polje, whose new stand opened last year, could host the first two qualifying rounds.
The UEFA delegate did have some complaints about the organization of the first ever European match in Tuzi against Sileks (2:0), which Dečić eliminated with a 3:2 aggregate score. These complaints related to the capacity of the stands ahead of the next round - for the 2nd qualifying round for the UEFA competition, the stadium needs to have at least 2.000 seats, while Tuško Polje has 1.150. The UEFA official's complaint, specifically regarding the match with Sileks, reached the European House of Football due to the large number of fans on the steps.
Rapid is certainly the favorite, because the Austrian team was a real hit in the previous edition of the Conference League - they were unfortunately eliminated in the quarterfinals by the Swedish Djurgarden.
The Austrians will certainly arrive with fans - perhaps that's why UEFA originally decided to play at the DG Arena, even though only one stand is in use at that stadium (the eastern, larger one, has neither chairs nor a usage permit). So the capacity is no bigger than the stadium in Tuzi...
Dečić cannot play at the stadium under Gorica, because only the night before, Buducnost played against Milsami there (more than 24 hours must pass for two European matches to be played in the same arena), and he cannot play near Bistrica either, because on the same night, July 24, Sutjeska hosts Beitar Jerusalem.
It is interesting that the team from Nikšić will again play the rematch on a neutral field, after eliminating the Belarusian Dinamo Brest in the Hungarian Zalaegerszeg. This time, due to security problems in Israel, Beitar will welcome Sutjeska in Romania, in Ploesti, in the rematch on July 31st.
