Petar Jašović, a young player of FK Budućnost, stood out at a recent tournament in Foča as the top scorer and one of the team's key players.
However, in an interview with "Vijesti", the young footballer made it clear that individual awards were not his priority, but rather team success.
- The goal even before going to Foča was to win the tournament. We were maximally focused, motivated and ready. In the end, everything was the best possible - we won the trophy - says Jašović, adding that the Bulgarian Ludogorets left a special impression.
- Ludogorets was the toughest opponent, a real competitor and challenger at, I can safely say, the European level.
Although he took home the flattering title of the tournament's top scorer, Petar remained humble and focused on the common goal until the end.
- The individual award means a lot to me, but I didn't pay much attention to the statistics. My goal was to help the team reach the end. It wasn't until after the final that I actually became aware of that recognition - the youth national team player emphasized.
Jašović says that a special motivation came from a call the evening before the final against Željezničar.
- Captain of Buducnost Petar Grbić invited us and wished us luck. It was a great honor and additional motivation, but also more responsibility for all of us.
Grbić is not only a captain and supporter, but also a personal role model for young Jašović.
- In the youth academy, I've been compared to him for some time. Of course, there's also Stevan Jovetić, one of our best football players ever - Petar points out.
As a member of the Montenegrin national team's junior selections, Jašović already wears the national jersey with pride.
- Wearing the national team's crest from the youngest generations is a special feeling. I almost got a call-up to the U19 team, which makes me even happier, but also additionally motivated to continue working.
And where do you see yourself in the near future?
- I really want to make my debut for the senior team of Buducnost as soon as possible. Of course, that is up to the coaching staff to decide, and it is up to me to work and try my best. I feel great, both physically and mentally, and I am constantly working on myself - concluded Jašović.
