Mujović: Mijač claims over a million euros from Buducnost

The Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, said that the situation at the football club Budućnost is very complex, and that the former president of the Montenegrin champion, Veselin Mijač, is demanding money from the club.

He said that the contract with Mijač was "one of the most controversial."

"We keep getting skeletons falling out of the closet. FK Budućnost has claims from Mr. Mijač of over a million euros. It's one of the most controversial contracts I've ever seen," said Mujović.

Mujović said that three contracts were signed with Mijač.

"With one contract, Mijač committed to a certain way of financing. With the second contract, his and the capital's participation in financing the club is divided 50-50 percent, and the third contract implied that Mijač would give one million and 200 thousand euros, but how? So, the idea was that the club needed, let's say, one million euros to operate, but the contract was concluded so that everything earned from the sale of players, TV rights and other things would be included in that million as if Mijač had invested it, so he potentially didn't have to invest a single euro and could have earned it. As the main sponsor, Mijač doesn't give money but uses the club's money," said Mujović and added:

"When at one point Mijač was sure that he would receive certain money from UEFA, in order to bridge the gap and wait for that money to be deposited into the club's account, he gave, pay attention to this, loans to the club whose financier he was and after a certain period of time he simply presented those loans as his own claims. Today we have a situation where an individual is suing the club whose sponsor he was, saying that the club owes him over a million euros. Can you understand the absurdity of that situation?" said Mujović.

The Mayor of Podgorica then continued his presentation.

"Let me explain. It's like assuming that the current management signs a contract with a company that commits to giving us money, and that the same company says in a year or two: 'You owe us money'. Simply unbelievable. I want to say that the situation at the club is very complex from the aspect that we don't know what is hidden behind the hill and what else we will discover from a contract of this type," concluded Saša Mujović.
