The football saga starring Benjamin Šeško, Manchester United and Newcastle has taken another turn.
When it seemed that the Slovenian striker would end up at St. James' Park, information arrived that Šeško wanted to go to Old Trafford.
As Athletic announced, despite Leipzig accepting an offer of 82,5 million euros, plus 2,5 million in bonuses from Newcastle, Sesko is now much closer to Manchester.
"An agreement has not yet been reached between the clubs, but negotiations are progressing towards completion," Athletic added.
Manchester United will thus apparently get one of the best young strikers in the world, while Newcastle continue to lose battles in the transfer market this summer.
First, Alexander Isak requested a transfer to join Liverpool, and in the meantime, the English champions won the "battle" with the "Magpies" for the signature of Igo Ekitike from Eintracht.
The club, which has a great army of fans, will also play in the Champions League this season, but for which finances are not a problem, has also tried to bring in Brian Mbeum (who left for Manchester United), Joao Pedro (joined Chelsea), Dino Hausen (Real Madrid's new centre-back)...
The epilogue with Šeško also somehow ruins Liverpool's deal with Isak, because regardless of the Swedish striker's desire to play at Anfield, the question is whether Newcastle is ready to let him go if they don't bring in an adequate and quality replacement.
