In mid-May, Crystal Palace won the FA Cup trophy by defeating Manchester City, their greatest success in club history, and two and a half months later, at the same place - the famous "Wembley" - Oliver Glazner celebrates again.
Palace became the "killer" of the greats, and on their way to a new trophy, they even knocked out the current English champions - they defeated Liverpool to triumph in the Community Shield.
After four goals in regulation (2:2, the Reds led twice), the game was decided by penalties - the difference was made by Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who made up for his mistake in the first half when he scored against Jeremy Frimpong for 2:1...
Liverpool took the lead in the 4th minute with a goal from newcomer Ugo Ekitike, on a pass from another signing, Milos Kerkez, and later Frimpong - who arrived from Bayer Leverkusen at the beginning of the summer - regained the lead by crossing after Jean-Philippe Mateta equalized from the penalty spot.
Palace were incomparably better in the second half than in the first, deservedly equalizing at 2:2 through Ismaila Sarr, then probably conceded a penalty when Alexis McAllister played with his hand...
Half an hour later, Palace fans welcomed the opportunity to celebrate.
Mohamed Salah missed everything in the first series (he shot high over the goal), then Henderson saved shots from McAllister and Harvey Elliott, and the uncertainty was put to an end by 21-year-old midfielder Justin Devaney.
Before that, the first match point for the team from south London was missed by Borna Sosa, who hit the crossbar in the 4th set, but it seemed as if it was written that his team would be better than the giants from the city of the Beatles in the match that marks the start of the season in the English elite.
