Radomir Đalović is one step away from another sensation with Rijeka, although he has to complete it next Thursday in Thessaloniki - the Croatian champion defeated PAOK 1:0 in the first match of the play-off round of the Europa League qualifiers.
The only goal was scored by Luka Menalo, who headed in an assist from Niko Janković from a free kick in the 39th minute.
"A big win for us. My players showed that they can play against serious teams. We were disciplined. In the second half, we didn't give PAOK a single chance. We have a good reserve for the second leg. We have to be strong and manly there. We don't have time to rest, now we have Varaždin waiting for us," said Đalović.
The winner of the two-legged tie goes to the Europa League, while the loser remains in the Conference League.
Đalović's team was eliminated by Ludogorets in the Champions League qualifiers, in extra time of the second leg in Bulgaria, and was eliminated by the Irish Shelburne in the 3rd round of the Europa League qualifiers.
Malmo is one step closer to qualifying for the Europa League, thanks to Sead Hakšabanović - the former Montenegrin international once again showed how much he likes Sweden, scoring the first two goals in a 3-0 win over the Czech Sigma Olomouc.
Another sensation in the Europa League was created by Macedonian Škendija - 2:1 at home against Ludogorets, while BiH champion Zrinjski lost at home to Uteht 2:0 and will probably have to settle for the Conference League.
Another Montenegrin footballer scored a goal in the qualifiers for the LK - Dino Islamović contributed to Rosenborg's 2:1 victory in Norway against the German team Mainz.
