Third season in the Championship, three games, three goals - Milutin Osmajić could not have turned a new page on the Island better.
The Montenegrin national team player and Preston striker, after masterfully drawing against Queens Park Rangers in the first round, over the next two games, demolished two clubs that were members of the Premier League until a few months ago.
First in the 85th minute against 2016 English champions Leicester, and then against Ipswich he won and converted a penalty that ultimately decided the game.
Super August did not go unnoticed by teams looking for a striker, so famous journalist Gianluca di Marzio announced that Sassuolo, Cremonese and Lecce (teams from Serie A) were interested in our footballer, and there were also reports from Spain that the recent "Super Depor" - Deportivo La Coruña was also following everything.
However...
"Half of the speculation is nonsense, the club has not received any offers," said Paul Hackinbotham, Preston coach, at the press conference before the match with Ipswich.
The question then arose as to what price Osmajić could be worth, considering that he still has two years left on his contract.
"Do you see how much some players are sold for? But I repeat, Osmajić is not for sale. If he were to leave, we would have to find someone better than him, right? So if you ask me: No, it won't work," the Preston coach is explicit.
He then once again emphasized how much he appreciates the former Sutjeska striker.
"In my opinion he is a striker who can score 20 goals a season in the Championship, I'm sure of it... And more than that. That's how I see him," Hackinbottom is clear.
He also revealed how hungry the Montenegrin is for goals.
"He thinks he should have scored more goals by now. The good thing is that he always takes chances and, I say it again, I think he is a player for 20 goals or more, and the way he started the season only confirms that," concluded Hackinbottom.
Three matches, two wins against the favorites for promotion to the Premier League and a draw away - Preston has not known failure at the start of the season, and with Osmajić in such a good mood, they can dream of fighting for the top of the Championship table.
