Azerbaijan's champion, Qarabag, will play in the Champions League for the second time in its history - the team represented by Montenegrin international Marko Janković was defeated by Ferencvaros (3:2) on home soil tonight in the second leg of the play-offs, but advanced thanks to a 3:1 victory in the first leg.
Janković was on the field for the full 90 minutes tonight, and for the first time in his career he will play in the Champions League.
Ferencvaros took the lead through Jozef in the 12th minute, and Qarabag equalized when Andrade found the net in the 25th minute.
By the end of the first half, Krabag had converted a goal through Zubir, but the Hungarian team responded in the second half and won 3:2 with goals from Varga and Tot, which was not enough to advance.
Qarabag played in the Champions League group stage for the first time in the 2017/2018 season, when they finished last in a group with Roma, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.
The draw for the Champions League matches is scheduled for tomorrow (18) in Monte Carlo.
The new Champions League season starts on September 16th.
