The Montenegrin national football team has begun preparations for the September doubleheader against the strongest teams in the group - the Czech Republic at Gorica on September 5th and Croatia at Maksimir three days later.
Immediately after the gathering, the usual problems arose: Andrija Radulović canceled the invitation, as Prosinečki pointed out, due to personal matters, Milutin Osmajić and Adam Marušić are questionable.
It was an afternoon test, and since Marušić was in Lazio's starting lineup for the match against Verona, which started at 20.45:XNUMX PM, it is believed that he will be ready.
Montenegro lost to the Czech Republic in June and found itself in a situation where only a victory over the same rival would leave it in the running for a high ranking.
The Czechs may have been shaken by the 5:1 defeat to Croatia, but how can they beat a rival who has defeated Montenegro all six times so far, with a goal difference of 15:1.
"Falcons" are playing against their black beast, but traditions are meant to be broken, could that happen on Friday night near Gorica?
"We know that we are playing against the two strongest teams in the group, especially Croatia. But for now, we need to focus only on the first game against the Czech Republic. This is a set-match ball for us, if we win there then we are in the game and have a chance. The Czech Republic showed good things, but also those where they are vulnerable, especially after the game in Croatia where they lost 5:1. We believe that we can achieve a good result. We have no right to make a mistake, there is no alibi, we have to give our maximum and play the game properly," Prosinecki said in an interview with reporters.
Croatia's dominance, clearly, allows Montenegro to fight with the Czech Republic for second place, which leads to the play-offs.
In June, in Plzen, our national team showed that, at least at that moment, it was not worthy of that fight, but on Friday night everything could change.
"I know that the Czech Republic is the 'black cat'. They've beaten us six times. I think it's time to beat them in Podgorica with a good atmosphere. Everyone is aware that we have a great chance to go to the additional qualifications if we win, if not a little more. So I hope that the support of the fans will not be lacking," added Prosinečki.
The team is still regrouping, and a new assessment of the players' condition will be made tomorrow.
"Osmajić had problems, he went to Belgrade and we hope he will be able to recover. We will wait until tomorrow, then we will know the situation with him. We also have problems with Marušić, we will see what happens with him. Radulović canceled due to personal problems, we will see everything tomorrow," Prosinečki said in the end.
Montenegro and the Czech Republic play on Friday evening at 20.45:8 pm. At the same time, on Monday, September XNUMX, Jovetić, Savić and others will play Croatia in Zagreb.
