Andrija Radulović skipped Montenegro's September actions, he was absent for the matches against the Czech Republic and Croatia, and then played a friendly match for Rapid during one of the "Falcons" matches.
Coach Robert Prosinecki described this situation as "an indicator of how much Montenegro is loved," and after all, the Montenegrin national team player wrote a letter to Dejan Savićević, president of the Football Association of Montenegro.
The striker of the Vienna giants emphasized that he did not want the letter to be made public before the match with Croatia in Zagreb, and the Antena M portal, which had access to it, published it the day after our team's defeat at "Maksimir" (4:0).
"Dear President, due to malicious interpretations of my failure to attend the gathering of our national team for the matches with the Czech Republic and Croatia, I feel the need to address you as a man, a footballer and a Montenegrin, so that you know what the truth is in this case. I would like to point out that I will inform the Montenegrin public about everything, but after the match with Croatia, because I do not want to disrupt the atmosphere in and around the national team in any way, on the eve of an important match," Radulović began.
He emphasized that he informed the coach of Prosinečki via message about the reasons why he could not appear at the national team gathering in Podgorica.
"I informed him of the worrying health problems that have been manifesting themselves during every game lately: headaches, vomiting, even fainting. I informed him that I had agreed with the club doctor to conduct medical tests during the break in the championship, in order to determine the diagnosis."
The coach responded to my message immediately, with one word - OK. Without asking, even politely, how I feel, am I afraid for my health and career?! Of course I know that we live in a time of harsh professionalism, but I would also like to show that, at least in situations like this, we are human too. After all, I am only 23 years old," Radulović wrote.
He also commented on media reports that he had canceled his call-up to play for Montenegro, and that he played for Rapid in a friendly match against Venice.
"However, there is no substance to this information: I played the game because the club's medical team, which was ready by the pitch at all times, requested it, so that it could perform tests in real conditions of exposure to the body's exertion during the match. In the 74th minute, I left the game and was immediately connected to instruments that scanned the body's reaction to the exertion of the match."
As he says, this is, in short, "the explanation and truth about not attending the national team's preparations."
"I consider the coach's comment questioning my love for Montenegro to be unpedagogical, unsportsmanlike and inhuman. No one has the right to question my love for Montenegro. And that is the most that good upbringing allows me to say in these circumstances. My firm intention is to get well, and then to give everything I can to my only country for a long, long time. And to make my dream come true - to play in my favorite jersey at the World and European Championships. I warmly greet you and wish you the best of luck, tonight at Maksimir and in the future. Andrija Radulović, proud representative of Montenegro," wrote the Rapid football player.
